Shrimp Cocktail

November 20, 2024 by Shelley Updated: January 27, 2025

This makes a refreshing appetizer that isn’t “too much” to make or eat. The sauce is zesty but shouldn’t alienate eaters who don’t like spicy foods. Feel free to increase the spice or change other ingredients to suit your tastes.

Prep time: 15-20 minutes
Servings: 6 appetizer-sized portions

Shrimp
340 g / 3/4 pound frozen large shrimp, cooked

Cocktail Sauce
1/2 cup Heinz ketchup
3/4 teaspoon harissa, flakes or paste
3/4 teaspoon soy sauce (light)
1/4 – 3/8 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  1. Place shrimp in a bowl of cold water to defrost.
  2. Mix the next 4 ingredients in a bowl. Adjust to taste. place in the fridge.
  3. Once the shrimp are defrosted, pat them dry and arrange them uncovered on a plate in the fridge to firm up until it’s time to serve. You might want to cover them if it’s going to be a while before you eat.
